Anna Wiehl

After having worked as lecturer and research assistant at the University of Bayreuth, Germany, Department for Media Studies, Anna Wiehl is now affiliated as research fellow to the Digital Cultures Research Centre, University of the West of England UWE, Bristol.

Her research focus lies on documentary practices – especially in ‘New Media Ecologies’ –, with a special interest in co-creation as well as in narratology and transmedia phenomena.

In 2010, she received her Ph.D. degree (summa cum laude) with her thesis Myth of European Identity. Supranational, national and regional identities in German and French television news. In her current habilitation project, she exploration the ‘New Documentary Nexus’, focusing on interaction, participation and networking.

Apart from her academic career, she has been working for the French-German broadcasting station arte, the German public broadcaster ARD and the Bavarian television BR as author for TV, radio and Internet.
