Victoria Mapplebeck
Victoria is a director of creative documentary films and series for cinema, TV and the web. For the last fifteen years Victoria has worked in cross platform documentary. She wrote and directed Smart Hearts, Channel 4’s first live documentary series, which streamed webcam coverage from two homes for over eighteen months. Smart Hearts was nominated for a New Media Indie Award
Her recent Film London short, 160 Characters explores a three year text thread buried in a vintage Nokia and was officially selected for the 2015 BFI London Film Festival. Victoria’s latest transmedia project TEXT ME… won The 2014 Pixel Lab Prize and The Merging Media Prize for Best European Cross platform project. Victoria wrote about her early research on TEXT ME in The Huffington Post, The Conversation and was featured in Wired magazine.
Victoria is also a media critic exploring how digital communication and archiving practices have evolved over the last decade. She is interviewed regularly for BBC and Sky news.
