Judith Aston
Judith Aston is a longstanding Faculty member in the Departments of Film and Creative Media at UWE Bristol, where she divides her time between developing her own projects, teaching students and co-directing i-Docs. She started her career in the early 1990s working on pioneering videodisc and CD-ROM projects with Apple Computing, the BBC and the University of Cambridge, completed her PhD from the RCA on interactive multimedia and visual anthropology in 2003, and co-founded i-Docs in 2011.
Recent projects have included working on I Am Orion, a Future Documentary Sandbox Project, and working with the Bristol Old Vic to create Theatre Within A Theatre, an immersive documentary artwork. She has also published extensively on her work with the Anthropologist Wendy James, around bringing to life her archive of over fifty years of fieldwork recordings, which document the changing fortunes of the peoples’ of the Blue Nile Borderlands.
