Peter Boyd Maclean
Peter graduated from St Martins School of art in 1986 where he studied Fine Art Film. While there he formed The Duvet Brothers, pioneers of the genre known as Scratch Video. They produced innovative music videos including the No1 hit Pump Up The Volume. They also produced the multi screen installations for the movie Less Than Zero starring Robert Downey Jr. After The Duvet Brothers Peter worked as a series director on television shows such as Network 7, Eurotrash, The Lonely Planet and Moviewatch. He directed several documentaries.
Peter directed the stop motion animation series Crapston Villas for Channel Four Television and the PJ’s starring Eddie Murphy for Fox USA. He has directed short films including The Boot a black comedy which was an official selection to the Venice Film Festival.
He has worked extensively as a television series director of scripted comedy, documentaries and factual entertainment programmes for The Discovery Channel BBC, ITV and Channel Four
He worked with Jonathan Ross on and off for ten years directing 3 series of Japanorama, 12FU, In search Of Steve Ditko.
For the past year Peter has been working with BBC R&D and News Labs exploring VR storytelling techniques in 360 live action video
